Product Description

This fully-documented, 801-page volume will take the reader from the origin of eternal security or once saved, always saved (OSAS) to the present time, as the contemporary OSAS teachers of our day are quoted hundreds of times and their teachings are examined under the light of God's truth. If you are like many, among other things, you will be shocked to learn that the teaching of OSAS is sometimes equated to grace and the gospel! Furthermore, the chapters exposing Calvin's dark side and unmasking the Synod of Dort (1618-1619), will give a factual, historical account that seems to be little known in our day. But most importantly, hundreds of Scriptures are cited in both offensive and defensive ways that will substantiate The Believer's Conditional Security.

Barking Up The Wrong Tree

Review by Phillip M. Evans, 2010-06-01

I give this book 3 stars (the mid-rating) for two reasons: it is not my intention for my review to bash down Mr. Corner's book into a low rating just because I disagree with him, and because it is an exhautive text on what verses "lose your salvation" advocates use to try and prove their doctrine. At least on that point it is informative.

But I think Mr. Corner is barking up the wrong tree. Mr. Corner's opposition to Calvinism does nothing to lend credence to his doctrine, for the truth of eternal security is not upheld by Calvinism, but by Holy Scripture.

To the contrary, Calvinism presents a warped view of why the saints have eternal security, and within its framework it indeed assaults personal assurance for those that have been saved, but who are worried that they are not living up enough to the Christian life, that is "persevering in the faith", and are perhaps in the group of those who think they are saved, but never were. Notwithstanding, a person with the mental faculties to be accountable to a Holy God should also know whom they have believed. Once you trust Christ as Saviour, you are forever saved, but you still have your free will to disobey God as His child, and He will deal with you accordingly with chastisment and also loss of eternal reward if you do not turn back to Him in obedience.

Those who oppose Calvinism like me (as much as Dan Corner does, but for different reasons) need not fall into the other error camp and reject the truth of eternal security for born-again children of God.

Bringing back the Fear of the LORD

Review by Luke 13:5 "REPENT or PERISH", 2010-02-17

Like others have said, this book is excellent in it's destruction of every single OSAS argument imaginable. It clearly reveals the clear fruits that OSAS has produced, one of which is a lack of the fear of the LORD in the church. After all, if all one really has to lose is some rewards in heaven, then who cares about living holy!

Of course, that idea is a deception, and the Bible makes it very clear that a believer can lose his salvation. The REAL Jesus Christ is not a minister of sin(Galatians 2:17), and the real grace of God teaches us to live according to the Bible and to deny ourselves(Titus 2:12).

This is unlike OSAS which teaches that sinning is OK and that says that Christians sin everyday and even the laughable idea that sin is what keeps us humble! That is a lie, since Satan, the author of sin, is far from humble! Millions of people believe that because they walked a church isle, signed the card, and prayed a prayer that they can live anyway they want and still go to Heaven!

Just because many people believe something doesn't make it right. In the Tribulation Period, many people will be taking the Mark of the Beast in order to prolong their lives for 3 and a half years at best. The Cost? Their soul, as taking that mark will be an unforgivable sin and is fatal to anyone, even Christians who take it. It doesn't matter how well you walked with Jesus or what you did, if you take that mark, you're finished.

This book, in addition to exposing the obvious "security-in-sin" OSAS gospel, also exposes the more subtle form of OSAS which claims that backsliders weren't ever saved anyway and claims that as long as you don't make a sin a "lifestyle" that you're OK, which is wrong as well.

In short, this book portrays the need for Holiness very well, without which no one will see the Lord(Hebrews 12:14).

Has some good points

Review by Mr. James P. Hudson, 2009-09-09

As far as I am concerned the Calvinism/Arminianism debate is truly answered in a sermon by a godly man by the name of Keith Daniel entitled, THE TIGHTROPE WALKER - CALVINISM vs. ARMINIANISM.
It really is a must listen!

The Believer's Conitional Security

Review by R. Gwinn, 2009-08-30

Very well researched and written. A gold mine of truth. Bible based, not opinion based. The only thing I disagree with is his view of end times, I don't believe God has any interest in a literal thousand year earthly kingdom, think of Jesus's words just before He was crucified. I wish all those who stake eternitly on OSAS would read this book with an open mind and get a better glimpse of Gods heart all throughout the Bible.

Doctrine of the Dark Ages

Review by thechrisaccount, 2009-05-17

A great book for priests, popes, cardinals and unrepentant Romanists. Dan Corner simply resurrects the doctrines argued by Rome at the
Council of Trent and puts a modern spin on them. Apparently, many readers are swept away by the 800 page volume, yet they do not consider that the author spent more ink than was needed for the entire
New Testament! Needless to say, his errors are too many to list here.

The Bible says, "He that hath knowledge spareth his words ..." (Prov. 17:27) and also, "In the multitude of words there lacketh not
sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise." (Prov. 10:19) These scriptures perfectly describe this book. The author goes on and
on, drawing one false conclusion after another, imposing interpretations on the text that fail to consider the whole council of God.

He teaches the conditional security doctrine embraced by the Catholic Church for centuries, dividing sin into separate categories. In Catholicism, you have "Cardinal" sins and "Venial" sins.
Cardinal sins are those that will cause you to lose your salvation, while venial sins are those you can commit without losing salvation. Dan Corner teaches exactly the same thing in this book, and in his ministry overall.

But Jesus said, "... he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much." (Luke 16:10) "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least
in the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 5:19) James writes: "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." (James 2:10) You cannot be more guilty than to be guilty of ALL.

Dan Corner says that not all Christians are "sinners," and implies that he himself does not sin. Yet in the scriptures, John writes: "If we
say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8) Notice that John is writing in the present tense, the
same as the apostle Paul who wrote about his struggle with sin, and said: "Oh wretched man that I am!" (Romans 7:24)

Corner is a self-professed five point Arminian, and is pushing a doctrinal agenda. In short, Arminianism is a "philosophy" about the word of God, rather than faith in what God's word actually says. The bible tells us that "faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17) This is why the Arminian will often deny what the
scripture SAYS in favor of his ideas about it.

The best example is Hebrew 6:4-6 which reads: "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift,
and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost ... if they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance ..."

Dan Corner argues that this passage is evidence that a person can fall away. In reality, what the passage actually SAYS is that IF you fall away, it is IMPOSSIBLE to renew you again to repentance. But Corner himself denies that this is the case.

As with Rome, 50% of his Conditional Security doctrine says that a born again believer can throw away his salvation, but then go get it back again whenever he wants. This is not in accordance with scripture, and is a clear denial of Hebrews 6.

Furthermore, while CS doctrine accuses "Eternal Security" of promoting "a license to commit sin," the reality is that this Conditional Security principle has been used for centuries by Rome to justify all manner
of sin and abomination. Roman priests and prelates have committed adultery, rape and murder, thinking they lost their salvation, only to get it back again once they go to confession, or buy an indulgence. The great fear (as in the play "Hamlet") is that one will die outside a state of grace, before making a last confession. This is a delusion that often keeps men trusting in themselves rather than the promises of God, and often bars them from experiencing the grace that brings salvation.

"Hath God cast away his people? God forbid .... God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew." (Romans 11:1&3)

"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." (John 6:37)
