AMEN!

Review by D. L. Haynes, 2010-06-10

Like the title say this is the Faith Once For All. Cottrell knows his stuff and presents it in terms that anyone can understand which is priceless in this society of video games, meth, and fax machines.

This book will help one stop and think.................

Review by Gift Card, 2010-04-09

Dr. Cottrell has written a fantastic book regarding the major themes found in the Bible. It is exciting to know that Jesus and the church are the part of the story closest to those of us living now. The Bible is all about Jesus, not the Jews.
We are not going backward in time to Israel to complete the story, Jesus came and completed the story for us, like I said in the title, this book will help one stop and think about things. It is easy to get caught up in 'end-time' fever when that is not really the focus of Scripture, get the book, you'll get an interesting perspective presented to you about the endtimes and many other Biblical topics.

Anti-Pneumatological

Review by Brian Parker, 2009-12-18

Dr. Cottrell presents a fairly balanced view of Theology with extensive reference to scripture (an element often neglected). However, when he arrives at the role of the Spirit his text becomes harsh and narrow. The Spirit is restricted to sanctification, with the gifts of edification (prophecy, tongues and interpretation, miraculous healing) reserved for the apostolic era. He goes as far as to state that those that practice tongues are deceived and filled with an evil spirit. He does not state that they have lost their salvation but does suggest that these events have ceased - not arguing for or against, yet the declaration that these events could not happen and if they do are the result of demonic deception appears to great a claim to make, one which attempts to restrict God (as identified as father, son, and spirit) and labels that which may be God as demonic.

Faithful but Dull

Review by Joseph Steve Hegyi III, 2009-06-27

I purchased "The Faith Once For All" to try and get an idea for what my denomination teaches (Christian Churches/Churches of Christ) and what I found was very faithful to what I would have expected but I'll tell you, this guy is dull!

That being said, if you want a faithful look at Arminian theology this is the book for you. You'll just have to overlook his writing style.
